TOKYO (Reuters) – Toyota Motor (NYSE 🙂 Corp announced Monday that it will halt production at five national factories in January due to supply chain issues, chip shortages and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Japan’s largest automaker said the plant shutdown would affect around 20,000 vehicles, but would not impact its annual goal of making nine million vehicles.
Last week, Toyota announced that it is forecasting a larger reduction in North American vehicle production in January to 50,000 units due to supply chain issues.
