The Senior Application Developer will work closely and collaboratively with the SPARK Principal Architect on the architecture, development, improvement and incremental redesign of the SPARK lending platform. The Senior Application Developer works with a small, high-performing team consisting of a product designer, principal architect and other full-stack application developers to design and create new functions and to add existing functions with their knowledge of the front-end and back-end improve web technologies with the Microsoft stack. The Senior Application Developer performs business analysis and defines / develops new functions to support the goals and objectives of the SPARK lending platform.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Working with the lead architect and lead product designer to help define and develop new features
  • Support with business analysis and architecture of new functions
  • Translate business requirements into functional features and enhancements for the SPARK lending platform (write code)
  • Practice continuous improvement by looking for ways to improve legacy code by identifying, planning, designing, and developing improvements to legacy code and legacy architectures
  • Technical expert (SME) on the subject of small loans (including SBA loans)
  • Perform regular code reviews of check-ins and completed functions
  • Empower the customer success team by helping troubleshoot escalated tickets
  • Support the approval process by helping to define test plans
  • Support with the provision of new SPARK versions and hotfixes during maintenance windows
  • Stay up to date on new technologies and best practices related to web application development and small business lending

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS or computer science or comparable experience.
  • More than 5 years of experience in Microsoft technologies for developing web applications, including Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft ASP.NET MVC (C #), Entity Framework as well as jQuery and popular JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience in developing line-of-business applications (not just websites)
  • Passion for web application development
  • Ready to stay up to date on new technologies and best practices
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills Analytical thinking, problem solving, ability to prioritize and execute
  • Self-start, self-management and strong organizational skills

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Basic Responsibilities SPARK Architecture and Development

The tasks include:

  • Analysis, architecture and development of new features
  • Analysis, architecture and development of existing features

80% SPARK planning and analysis and

The tasks include:

  • Support in defining user stories / requirements for new functions and improvements
  • Support in defining acceptance criteria for new functions and improvements
  • Assistance with the analysis needed to determine the impact on existing customers when existing features are improved

10% SPARK support

The tasks include:

  • Review escalated tickets assigned by the SPARK Customer Success Team
  • Track and fix bugs based on priority

5% SPARK release management

The tasks include:

  • Take part in testing new features and enhancements during stabilization before release
  • Take regression tests according to SPARK’s standard regression test plan
  • Support in the creation of release notes for SPARK customers
  • Prepare and release hotfixes during the standard maintenance windows or as needed according to the practices defined by the SPARK SOC.
  • Prepare major releases during the standard maintenance windows and publish them as needed according to the procedures established by the SPARK SOC.
