Khost protesters demand dignified replay of Pakistani airstrikes – Pajhwok Afghan News

CITY OF KHOST (Pajhwok): Hundreds of people in southeastern Khost province staged protests against Pakistani forces airstrikes in Khost and Kunar provinces in which dozens of civilians were killed and injured.

Dozens of Waziristani refugees were killed and injured in an airstrike by Pakistani forces in Spera district on Friday night. Pakistani planes also pounded targets in Kunar province, causing casualties among ordinary people.

Accused protesters have called on the Afghan government and the international community to react strongly to the Pakistani aggression.

Qadirullah, one of the protesters, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Pakistani forces had targeted migrants in Khost province, adding that it was an act in violation of international law and a crime of war.

He called on the international community to impose economic sanctions on Pakistan as it violated Afghanistan’s airspace and challenged its territorial integrity.

Murid Naikmal, another protester, said the Afghan Defense Ministry should not remain silent in the face of Pakistani aggression and should take revenge.

“I want the leaders of the Islamic Emirate not to remain silent on Pakistan’s aggression and tyranny and this should respond appropriately,” he said.

“Pakistan does not want to sow a strong Afghan army and unity inside Afghanistan among the Afghan people,” he said.

The Afghan government has also strongly condemned the airstrikes in Khost and Kunar provinces and called on Pakistan to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
