Inter demand at least € 120million (£ 102.5million) from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in Italy.
The Champions League holders are on the hunt for a new top striker and have identified Erling Haaland as their main target.
However, Borussia Dortmund are adamant that Haaland will stay with them for at least one more season, while Chelsea are expected to pay around £ 160million to sign the Norway international this summer.
Lukaku are also on Chelsea’s shortlist and the club had hoped that a deal for the Belgium international would be more achievable given Inter’s need to balance their finances before the transfer window ends.
However, Tuttosport reports that the Serie A champions are now looking to retain their best players after selling Achraf Hakimi on a € 71million (£ 60.7million) deal earlier this month. .
The report claims Chelsea should submit an offer of at least € 120million (£ 102.5million) to get Inter to agree to a sale.
Lukaku, who joined Inter for £ 74million in 2019, scored 64 goals in 95 appearances for the Italian club and played a key role in the team’s Serie A victory last season.
Shortly before the start of Euro 2020, Lukaku also publicly stated that he plans to stay at Inter.
“Yes, I will stay,” the forward told VTM.
‘I have already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager [Simone Inzaghi]. Maybe I shouldn’t say it yet… but it was a very positive conversation. ‘
Chelsea are also said to see Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski as an alternative to Haaland and Lukaku.
The Poland international has only two years left on his contract with Bayern and Chelsea have checked with the striker’s representatives.
